What is a vCard QR code?
A vCard QR code stores your contact details in the QR pattern itself. A compatible scanner reads the record and offers to add it to Contacts. That saves the recipient from typing your name, phone number and email one field at a time.

- Choose the contact format. Open the QR code generator and select Direct Add vCard.
- Add the useful fields. Start with your name, business, phone and email. Add a website or address only if recipients need it.
- Keep the code easy to scan. Preserve its white border and use clear contrast. More contact fields make a denser pattern.
- Download your image. Sign in with a free account for PNG or JPG. SVG, useful for scalable print artwork, requires Pro.
- Test the finished version. Scan the exported image with the phones people will use. Check the name, email and phone in the contact-saving screen before sharing it widely.
An example: a QR code that adds a contact to a phone
Alex Morgan wants to share a business email and phone number at a meeting. Alex enters a name, alex@example.com and +1 202 555 0100 in the vCard form. These are fictional sample details; replace them with the information you intend to share.
The other person scans the finished code, checks the prefilled contact and chooses the phone’s save action. The goal is scan, review, tap to save, with no manual retyping. Some phones ask for an additional import or confirmation step.
Keep a readable name and email beside a printed code so people can still contact you if they cannot scan it.

Choose vCard when saving contact details is the main action. Choose a URL when you want a portfolio, booking page or profile you can update. An embedded vCard does not provide hosted scan statistics.
Where to use your contact QR code

Keep your contact QR ready in Apple Wallet or Google Wallet
A Wallet pass is an additional way to carry your vCard QR code. Open the pass when you meet someone and let them scan it. It saves you from searching through photos for the right image.
Use the Wallet contact-card builder to create the pass; importing a QR image into Photos does not make a Wallet pass. A free account includes one editable Apple card and one editable Google card.
After editing your details, save and add the updated pass again. Older passes, printed codes and contacts someone has already saved do not update automatically.
What if the contact QR is on the same phone?
Save the image or take a screenshot, then open ScreenCode’s image scanner on that phone. Choose the image, review the decoded fields and use the contact-saving action. You do not need to point a second camera at the screen.

Why won’t a contact QR code scan or save correctly?
- The code is too small or dense. Reduce unnecessary fields or increase its displayed or printed size. ScreenCode starts vCards at 1 inch; test the actual output and use more space when needed.
- The white border was cropped. Restore the exported border and avoid stretching the image.
- The scanner does not support contact records. Try a compatible reader or ScreenCode’s browser scanner.
- A contact field is missing. Check the generator entry and the final import screen. Different contact apps handle fields differently.

What is a vCard QR code?
A vCard QR code contains contact details inside the QR pattern. A compatible scanner can offer to save a name, business, phone number, email and other included fields to Contacts.
Can a QR code add a contact without opening a website?
Yes. An embedded vCard stores the contact record directly in the QR code. The phone or scanner handles the contact-saving confirmation; it does not need to fetch a hosted contact profile first.
Is the ScreenCode vCard QR generator free?
Design and preview contact QR codes for free without signing in. A free account is required to save and download PNG or JPG. SVG export requires Pro. Recipients do not need a ScreenCode account.
Can I change the details after printing a contact QR code?
The details embedded in a static QR image cannot change. Create a new code and replace the printed or digital image. Contacts someone previously saved do not update automatically.
Can I put my vCard QR code in Apple Wallet or Google Wallet?
