THE SHORT ANSWER

How to scan a QR code from a screenshot

To scan a QR code from a screenshot, use ScreenCode's free browser tool to paste the image or choose it from your device. ScreenCode decodes the image locally, shows the destination or embedded data before anything opens, and lets you crop or rotate difficult codes without uploading the screenshot.

  1. Copy, drag, or choose the screenshot or photo.
  2. Crop or rotate the image if the code is small or angled.
  3. Review the destination, contact, Wi-Fi details, barcode, or raw value.

WHAT IT READS

More than website links

ScreenCode recognizes website links, vCards, Wi-Fi credentials, email, SMS, phone numbers, calendar events, authenticator setup codes, 2FA QR codes, payment details, plain text, and common product barcodes.

Links are shown before they open, including warnings for shortened URLs, raw IP addresses, unusual ports, internationalized domains, and non-HTTPS destinations.

COMMON QUESTIONS

QR screenshot scanner FAQ

Can I scan a QR code from a screenshot?

Yes. Use ScreenCode's free scanner to paste the screenshot or choose it from your device. The code is decoded locally in your browser, including screenshots saved on the same phone that displays the code.

Does ScreenCode upload my screenshot?

No. Image decoding runs inside the browser tab. ScreenCode does not send the screenshot or decoded value to a server.

Can it read regular barcodes from an image?

Yes. ScreenCode reads common QR and retail barcode formats from PNG, JPG, WebP, and HEIC images up to 30 MB.

Why will a QR code not scan from my screenshot?

The usual causes are a code that is too small, blurry, cut off, tilted, or missing its white border. Use Crop and rotate to isolate the complete code, then scan again.
